It's not everyday that you get to meet your sporting idols but thanks to the Make-a-wish Foundation, 15 year old football fan Kasey Mossman got to do just that.

The last five days has seen the Miriam Vale Queenslander train and play with her idols the Westfield Matildas at their final World Cup selection camp at the Australian Institute of Sport.

The four day trip was a welcome respite for the teenager whom for the last two years has been battling myelodysplastic syndrome, a medical condition which can progress to become leukaemia for about one-third of patients.

Prior to her diagnosis, Kasey was an avid footballer having played the game for five years.  However with other priorities the last two years, playing football has been on the back burner, so the chance to live, eat and play with the Matildas was a dream come true and she couldn't be happier.

"I love just being here with everyone, just mucking around and having fun," she said.

"They are great.  They make you get involved and show how to do things."

Staying alongside the Matildas at the Australian Institute of Sport, the whole experience has inspired her and she can’t wait to once again pull on the football boots.

"I want to play like them or get into a higher league where I play," Kasey stated.

"Watching them play and seeing how good they, I've learnt a lot."
