devanna-afawards-2013Lisa De Vanna and Stephanie Catley have been awarded the FFA Player of the Year and U20 Player of the Year, respectively, at the Australian Football Awards.

For 29 year old De Vanna the award capped off a big year in which she was one the standouts for her clubs, Perth Glory and Sky Blue FC, and country.

It also completes a big week for the striker in which she was nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award for goal of the year after netting a spectacular bicycle kick in June while playing for Sky Blue FC in the NWSL.

De Vanna's Melbourne Victory teammate and captain Stephanie Catley was awarded the U20 Player of the Year for the second year running.

Since bursting onto the scene last year Catley has cemented her position at left back in her club team and on the Matildas.  Through strong performances, the 19 year old continues to build her reputation as one of Australia's brightest young prospects.

In other awards, W-League referee favourite Kate Jacewicz received the Referee of the Year accolade, while Canberra's Michelle Aurousseau was named the Female Coach of the Year and Terrigal United footballer Tamara Felsch the Fairer Play Award.

Earlier in the night Sydney FC's Sam Kerr was voted by her peers the PFA Footballer of the Year.
