Brisbane Lions have seen four players re-commit to the club for the 2020 season but lost two to their close rivals.
Vice-captain Emma Zielke, Lauren Arnell, Jordan Zanchetta and Gabby Collingwood will all play for the two-time grand finalist next season.
“We always knew the expansion period was going to be challenging for our Club,” Lions Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock said.
“All four girls are passionate about the Club and all are super excited about what we will continue to build over the next two years.”
The four re-signings will join Jess Wuetschner, Kate Lutkins, Emily Bates, Sharni Webb, Nat Grider, Jesse Wardlaw, Jade Ellenger, Jessy Keeffe and Brianna McFarlane.
However, the club has lost another two players to expansion club Gold Coast Suns.
Captain Leah Kaslar has cited work and lifestyle reasons for her decision to join the newly formed AFLW club.
The 33-year-old has had to travel up the motorway to train with the Lions three to four times a week.
“Unfortunately, we have lost her to the expansion club, the Gold Coast Suns, so that’s sad for us but we fully understand Leah’s situation where she’s got a very hectic work life/schedule at the moment with her job,” coach Craig Starcevich said.
“While it’s sad for us, with our blessing, she joins an expansion club, she’s been an amazing ambassador for female footy in Queensland now for many, many years.”
Although the Suns are yet to announce Kaslar as a signing as of Monday evening.
Vice-captain Sam Virgo will also join has also Kaslar on the Gold Coast after advising Brisbane she'd like to peruse an opportunity with them.
However, with recent departures, Starcevich has hinted for Lions fans to sit tight with more signing news expected this week.
The AFLW Trade and Sign Period will end on April 18.
