Not long after her 18th birthday, Caitlin Friend gave herself the best birthday present possible; a W-League hat-trick. The hat-trick hero has now penned her second blog for TWG.
Hey, Caity here with my second blog. I promise they will get better with practice!
After all the hype and excitement from the 4-0 win against Adelaide, off we went to Brisbane with high hopes.
On the day I thought we brought it to the Roar girls and were very unlucky not to get a result! But as they say; that's football I’m afraid!
With young keeper Cassy making her debut and Stotty and Mini playing their home team, there was a lot to play for. The Americans were as solid as usual and Jodie the Pom was proving her speed up front.
Typical of football, the result did not justify the work rate put in by the girls. It was a quiet flight on the way home and everyone was a bit subdued. Besides the result we had a great time up there, the only thing that was missing was the absence of Bis. She is always a laugh and is a great mentor for me.
With a new week came a positive outlook and the girls are now looking forward towards the game against Newcastle Jets this Saturday at 3pm at Skilled Stadium, Geelong.
As for me, I'm doing my study on the 'offside' rule. The girls have been working hard and we are looking to have a good performance and take three points away from the game against the Jets this weekend.
Until next time,
Caity :)
