Klimkova completes Canberra

Canberra United Head Coach Jitka Klimkova has finalised her Canberra United squad for Season Four of the Westfield W-League with the selection of the final seven players. The final seven see a mixture of the new and familiar to join the 12 players announced late last week.

“After the trial process I am happy now to be able to settle down with the squad and focus on the style of football we are going to play,” said Klimkova.

Familiar to the supporters of the Green Machine are members of last season's squad in Grace Gill and Jennifer Bisset with local youngsters, and ACTAS members, Sally Rojahn and Georgia Yeoman-Dale. Meanwhile Snez Veljanovska and Christine Walters return to the United fold after seasons away.

Veljanovska, who spent last season with Melbourne Victory, and Walters, who is recovering from a calf injury that stymied her progress over the last twelve months, provide some experienced W-League cover for Klimkova.

Joining the United squad for the first time is Queensland-born Australian Schoolgirl international Hayley Raso. Raso, whose trialling performances impressed Klimkova, comes from Palm Beach Sharks on the Gold Coast enters the squad as a promising young and quick forward.

With those selections Klimkova has nailed down nineteen of the twenty spots with the final place on the roster going to an overseas player from the United States who will be announced shortly.

“This week we will concentrate on the defensive principles before moving onto the attacking principles next week as our tactical preparations begin to take shape ahead of the season kick-off."
