Kerr became the first female marquee player when Perth Glory dipped into the fund which has supported the likes of Tim Cahill and Dwight York.

However, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 25-year-old said she was choosing between two of the biggest clubs: Chelsea and Barcelona.

“I honestly wasn’t even thinking of coming back to Perth,” Kerr told The Daily Telegraph.

“Obviously last season was really, really disappointing, so it was a choice literally between Barcelona and Chelsea and I was writing down the pros and cons. I’d spoken to both the coaches and then this came up.

“It got me thinking about what it would mean for my playing career at home and what it would mean for me being around for World Cup preparation.

“It got me second guessing my decision. I don’t think I’d really even thought about playing in the W-League before I’d decided to go to Europe. When this came up it made me think maybe it is best if I stay.”

It wasn't an easy season at home for Kerr, while individually she scored 13 goals including two hat-tricks and was named join Julie Dolan medalist, Glory missed out on finals and choosing to come back to Australia wasn't easy especially with the FFA's offer coming in the middle of her NWSL season with Chicago Red Stars.

However, Kerr hasn't ruled out a chance of going to Europe though.

“I do want to try (Europe),” Kerr said.

“I kind of want to go over there because Europeans don’t think Australians are that good a footballers; so prove some people wrong," she said.

Perth Glory kick-off their 2018/19 W-League season against Brisbane Roar on Sunday October 28th at Suncorp Stadium.
