North Melbourne have signed nine players on the first day of the AFLW Expansion Signing Period.
Brisbane Lions midfielder Jamie Stanton and ruck Tahlia Randall will depart the club for North Melbourne.
After two seasons at the Lions, the founding members, are headed to the Kangaroos next season.
“We know losing players is part of the expansion of our game and we wish them all the best in their careers at North,” Lions Women’s CEO Breanna Brock said.
Stanton and Randall will be joined by Western Bulldogs star Jenna Bruton, Carlton players Kate Gillespie-Jones and Danielle Hardiman and Collingwood duo Jessica Duffin and Jasmine Garner.
Best and Fairest winner for 2018 Emma Kearney also had her paperwork finalised to join the side after she was announced as an unofficial signing in April.
The Kangaroos also confirmed their first non-AFLW signing with Maddison Smith becoming the first Tasmanian to join the side.
She kicked nine goals in her first Tasmanian State League Women’s (TSLW) game for Clarence.
“Maddie’s ball use, strength and power will be a huge asset, and we expect her x-factor and competitive nature to be on show very early on in the season,” North AFLW list manager Rhys Harwood told North Media.
“We think Maddy has the capacity to develop into a terrific AFLW player, and it will be very special when she gets to play in front of her friends and family in Tassie.”
The Expansion Signing Period will continue until May 21.
