The Women's Game is an award winning Australian website dedicated only to women's football covering mainly the W-League and the Matildas (senior, Young Matildas and U17s).
We are accredited by the FFA, the AFC and FIFA and have covered all 7 W-League seasons, 2 World Cups, 2 Asian Cups and 3 AFC youth tournaments.
We comprise of 5 writers, 5 photographers and several match day assistants.
About the positions
For the past two seasons we have had appointed "team correspondents" meaning that the load was better spread throughout the season.
The positions are volunteer and are more of a cadetship with the published writers within TWG's team available to guide and assist as required.
We are currently looking for reporters to cover:
- Adelaide United
- Brisbane Roar
- Melbourne City
- Western Sydney Wanderers
The writing includes:
- Pre-Season Guide – A feature of the team for the upcoming season (don't worry we have a template)
- Match previews – Due on a Thursday night. 6 a season for the home team correspondent (template to be provided)
- Match tweeting – 6 a season for the home team correspondent
- Match analysis – Due on Monday evening. 6 a season for the home team correspondent (template to be provided)
- Features – Due on a Tuesday. 1 scheduled per season but not limited to just one.
While templates/guidelines are provided but there is plenty of scope to personalise pieces.
What we are looking for
We are looking for writers who:
- possess solid writing skills
- can work to deadlines
- have some understanding of social media
- are passionate about football and wants to be part of a great team!
