The first is Matildas midfielder and former W-League Julie Dolan medal winner Amy Harrison, who joins after a moderately successful campaign with NWSL club Washington Spirit.

“Coming to the Wanderers is a new challenge and new adventure, and that’s something that really excites me as I’m a Westie,” Harrison said.

“I want to create something special here at the Wanderers and coming from the region, it would be really nice to be part of the Western Sydney Wanderers that win the Westfield W-League or do something special.

“I’m really excited to be part of the team.”

But the big foreign name comes in the shape of current USA U/23 national team player Sam Staab, who after taking out the fourth pick of the NWSL draft, is set to become a W-League star this season.

“I’m really excited and I think it’s really awesome, I’ve always wanted to travel and the Western Sydney Wanderers have given me that opportunity to come down here to Australia,” said Staab.

“I just saw everything that was going on with the new facilities and the upping of all the standards and I just wanted to be part of that.

“I think it’s amazing everything that’s going on here is really positive and it’s definitely going in a positive direction for women’s football.”
