Former Boston Breakers player and Matildas forward Kyah Simon has been acquired by Houston Dash after being selected as the sixth pick in the NWSL dispersal draft.

As part of the Breakers ceasing all operations 'effective immediately' on Sunday (Monday AEDT) after entering receivership, the NWSL announced there would be a dispersal draw for the players still under contract with the Breakers along with their 2018 College Draft picks.

Simon played at the Boston Breakers in two separate stints in 2012-13 and 2015-16.

She missed the 2014 season due to tearing her ACL.

However, ahead of the 2017 season, Simon decided she would not be returning to Boston or the NWSL.

“I love the city, the club, my teammates and most importantly the fans, but for me I need to put my personal needs first and make 2017 a year to freshen up here in Australia, to get my mind and body back to 100 percent health and fitness, and be ready for the next season,” she said in a statement.
