Gorry ruptured her syndesmosis in December and missed majority of the W-League season with Brisbane Roar.

Now recovered, she is excited to be back with the Matildas squad after working through plenty of ups and downs.

"It's really exciting to be back with the national team, and obviously I was quite worried heading into the US camp selection, as I was injured for so long," Gorry said.

"When I got the selection email, it felt like when I received my first email for the national team camp and all those emotions came up again as I flew over to the US to join the rest of the team.

"It has been a tough road for the last couple of months but I'm definitely excited to be here."

Gorry said that her injury gave her the chance to reflect on her career and think positively about the future, especially with the World Cup not too far away.

"I haven't had many injuries before, or haven't had to have surgery on one before, so it was all a bit different for me and something that was hard to take in my stride.

"In a positive light, my injury probably came at a perfect time as it gave me a chance to sit back and reflect on the last few years and also look towards the future and where I want to be in the next few years.

"It was a little bit of a blessing, and now it is just so nice to be back on the field."
