Steph Gilmore was pipped at the post in the Vans US Open of Surfing in the US overnight.
Gilmore made it through to final but her two best waves of 5.83 and 6.03 (11.86) were not enough to catch American Courtney Conlogue who scored 7.33 and 6.50 (13.83).

Gilmore's second place sees her extend her lead on the Jeep Leaderboard with 53,375 points ahead of Lakey Peterson on 48,175 who was knocked out in the quarter finals.
Fellow Australian's Nikki Van Dijk and Sally Fitzgibbons were both eliminated in the Quarter Finals.
