The Giants won three of the four quarters and they carried a seemingly unassailable 14 point lead into the final quarter but Fever weren't about to give up the battle.

There was a momentum shift in the final quarter as the Fever held the Giants to 11 goals and scored 22 themselves.

However, it was a bittersweet bonus point as centre Verity Charles had to be carried from the court with only 59 seconds remaining with an apparent knee injury.

From there, the Giants were able to hold on to secure the win and claim top spot.

West Coast will face a nervous wait to see their final standing now, with the Lightning a chance of stealing second place from them if they can defeat the Vixens and claim all four bonus points in their clash this afternoon.

"The Giants are a formidable side, and we knew we couldn't let them get on top of us, but credit to them, for the first three quarters they played great netball," Fever coach Stacey Marinkovich said.

"We showed in the final quarter the quality of netball we are capable of, and we will ensure we review our game honestly, to ensure we continue to improve each week," she said.
