Australian's Daria Gavrilova and Ash Barty are through to the third round at Indian Wells with straight-set wins.
After a disappointing summer of home soil, Gavrilova has now won two-in-a-row with a resounding victory over Mihaela Buzarnescu. She had been beaten by the Romanian in Acapulco last week.
It comes after her first-round victory over teenager Dayana Yastremska.
The 25-year-old will either face No.6 seed Elina Svitolina and American Sofia Kenin, who face each other on Friday night (local time).
Her Fed Cup teammate, Ash Barty soon joined her in the last 32 with a win over German Tatjana Maria.
However, it wasn't a cruising victory for the Queenslander, with the world No.12 trailing 4-1 in the first set and then 3-1 in the second.
It was the 22-year-olds serving game that got her out of troubling situations, winning 70 per cent of her first-serve points.
Barty will now face American wildcard Jennifer Brady, who upset 19th seed Caroline Garcia.
Fellow Aussie, Ajla Tomljanovic plays her second-round match against Aryna Sabalenka on Sunday (March 10) at 6am AEDT.
