Former Denmark captain Katrine Pedersen has signed with Adelaide United for the W-League season.
A veteran of 210 internationals for Denmark, Pedersen is the second international signing for the Reds as they continue to build for a serious tilt at their first W-League finals series.
“I am very happy to get the opportunity to play for the Lady Reds," said Pedersen.
"It is a great challenge and joy to come to another country, play for a new team, work together with new teammates and play new and for me unknown opponents every weekend. I am very much looking forward to joining the Lady Reds.”
At 37 Pedersen brings a wealth of experience, including 3 FIFA Women's World Cup and 4 Women's European Championships tournament appearances, to a young Adelaide United squad.
While new to the W-League, the central midfielder will find some familiar faces at the Reds having played alongside captain Kristy Moore and midfielder Lisa Marie-Woods at previous clubs.
Pedersen becomes the third Dane to make an appearance in the W-League with Julie Rydahl and Cathrine Paaske-Sørensen assisting Sydney FC to the championship back in 2009.
"Some of my Danish friends played there some years ago and they have told me that it was an awesome experience football wise and a great adventure.”
“I know that the Lady Reds performed very well last season and I have followed the W-League a little over the last few years."
Katrine Pedersen arrives in Adelaide late next week to commence training with the Lady Reds ahead of their Round 1 match with Sydney FC in Sydney.
