It's finally here! After 12 weeks, 10 rounds, 35 games and 125 goals, we are down to the final four teams in the Westfield W-League;  Canberra United, Brisbane Roar, Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory.  This weekend the final four battle it out for the right to play in the 2012 Westfield W-League Grand Final.

The undefeated Canberra United enter their fourth semi-final in fantastic form and, with a week's rest, will be warm favourites against Melbourne Victory at McKellar Park.

“This year we just planned to be a more attacking team so that’s it, just go forward and score,” said Golden Boot winner Michelle Heyman.

“Most the goals I scored was from the hard work of the other girls in our team so I am very grateful for that."

“It’s been an amazing team dynamic this year and I can’t wait for the match on Saturday.”

Meanwhile for the Melbourne Victory it is their second foray into the finals with their last semi-final ending disastriously.  Winger Ashley Brown believes that this time will be different for the Victory.

“We are a young team but we have a lot of experienced players as well and we’ve been together for a long time now so we’ve adapted to the way each other play and the formation that we play and everything is coming together really nicely,” said Melbourne Victory’s Ashley Brown.

“We just have to put it together on the day and prove that we can do it.”

In the second semi-final, the only two winners of the competition meet as Brisbane Roar host Sydney FC at QSAC.  Defending champions Roar are looking for a hat-trick of titles in a season that has been the toughest yet.

“The season’s definitely changed this year for us, there are a lot more competitive teams out there this year,” said Brisbane Roar’s Tameka Butt.

“We get pressure from the boys as well, they want to go back-to-back and we want to go back-to-back.”

“Playing this week against Sydney is going to be as much a mental game as a physical one, I think the ones with more experience will be more prepared for it.”

While for Sydney, they meet their long time rivals for the second week and a row and striker Kyah Simon believes that, even away from home, they can overturn last Saturday's result.

“We have a great rivalry with the Roar and I’m sure this match will be close as there is not much separating our two teams,” said Sydney FC’s Kyah Simon.

“We’ve had a better run playing away from home than we have playing at home.

“It’s going to be tough having the Roar crowd there but I guess it’s what we have to deal with and we just have to play good football and block out the distractions off the pitch.”

In great news for local and international fans the both semi-finals will be streamed live on the internet.  For local fans they will also be able to catch a one hour highlights package at 6pm following the conclusion of each match.
