Emma Checker will be once again putting on the red jersey for Adelaide United in Season 10 of the W-League.

The three-time capped Matildas centre-back will join lethal striker Adriana Jones and fellow Matilda Alex Chidiac at her home club.

Head coach Ivan Karlovic is delighted to have Checker back, and said: “We know exactly what we’re going to get from Emma this season and next, and we’re thrilled to have her sign with Adelaide United for two seasons.

“She’s only 21, but Emma is a mature leader, someone with an amazing work ethic, and another great signing for us this season.”

Having played for Melbourne Victory and Canberra United in the past seasons, and most recently in the South Korean WK League with top team Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angel, Checker returns to play for her home team after a four-year absence.

Checker has amassed more than 50 W-League appearances under her belt, and will prove to be a valuable addition to Adelaide United’s defence, together with Young Matilda Grace Abbey and her former Young Matildas teammate and Reds custodian Eliza Campbell.

“I am very excited to be returning home to Adelaide United,” Checker said.

“After spending all of my youth years in Adelaide and being given my first W-League opportunity with the Club it will be a really special and proud feeling for me being back where it all began.

“As a club there have been massive improvements and as a team we will be aiming to be a top four side.

Adelaide United will be playing their first Season 10 match against Western Sydney Wanderers at Marconi Stadium on Friday, 3rd of November after a bye in the opening week of the 2017/2018 W-League season.
