Football Federation Victoria has announced that former Adelaide United coach Dave Edmondson will be the new coach of Melbourne Victory Women and the Victorian Women’s National Training Centre.

As we foreshadowed last month, Edmondson joins the 2012/13 grand finalists after two season with Adelaide United and the FFSA NTC program.

“We’re excited to have Dave on board in Victoria,” said FFV’s Talented Player Development Manager Les Bee.

“His mantra of player development and team structure is in line with the direction FFV are taking with their elite player programs."

Edmondson takes over at an excellent time for Victorian women's youth development with three players in the senior Matildas squad and a majority of this season's W-League squad Victorian developed.

As well as a UEFA A coaching licence (and working on attaining a Pro Licence), Edmondson has extensive experience in youth development having coached the New Zealand U17s squad to the FIFA U20 World Cup Finals in 2010.

“He has watched our junior state teams at National Championships and is looking forward to working with the quality of players we have in Victoria, as well as our state coaches to produce improved performance across the board." said Bee

“With his history of improving teams as a Head Coach, we look forward to seeing his work with the NTC program and for that to transfer to Melbourne Victory Women to make them even more of a threat in the W-League.”
