Melbourne Victory and Matildas goalkeeper Brianna Davey has been signed by Swedish side Linköping FC for the rest of the Damallsvenskan season.

Departing next week, Davey has been recruited as an replacement for the recently injured Swedish National Team goalkeeper Sofia Lundgren to the delight of Linköping coach Martin Sjögren.

"She is probably the world's most talented goalkeeper," he stated on linköpingfc.com.

"There is no one else at that age that has found a place as a regular in one of the world's top eight national teams."

Davey's rise has been swift since obtaining the Victory No. 1 jersey two seasons ago and after spectacular recent performances against New Zealand and France, the 18 year old has also solidified her position in the Matildas.

The Victory custodian will have one familiar face at the club with Victory midfielder and Swedish national Petra Larsson also plying her trade at the fourth ranked Linköping.

With the exchange of players, Linköping has also hinted at a "more developed co-operation with Melbourne Victory".  Manager Anders Maki further elaborated on the website.

"[As the] seasons compliments the other in Sweden and Australia, so there are openings for a partnership, which would certainly be attractive for both Swedish and Australian players.

Davey joins several other Australians in what is widely considered one of the top two, if not the best, women's football league in the world with follow Matilda Lydia Williams at Piteå, Perth Glory's Carys Hawkins at Sunnanå and Canberra United's Nicole Sykes at Kristianstads DFF.
