Chicago Red Stars duo Danielle Colaprico and Sofia Huerta have been signed, on loan, by Adelaide United for the 2016/17 W-League.

Colaprico and Huerta join Red Stars teammate Katie Naughton at the Reds and, along with Brazilian international Monica, complete Adelaide's four international signings.

In the 2016 season, the forward recorded 7 goals in 21 games for the Red Stars and started in the NWSL semi final against the Washington Spirit.  Internationally Huerta was a member of the 2012 Mexican FIFA U20 Women's World Cup squad, scoring three goals in El Tricolor's campaign.

The 2015 NWSL Rookie of the Year, Colaprico's debut season earned her a call up USWNT training camp in January 2016.  Midfielder Colaprico also recorded a full season with the Red Stars and was a part of one the best midfields in the NWSL.

The box to box midfielder will provide plenty of energy and some experience to what it anticipated to be a relatively inexperienced Reds' midfield.

“I think heading over to Australia to play with Adelaide will be an excellent opportunity to keep playing at a high level in the offseason and to be in an environment where I’m not as comfortable,” said Colaprico.

“All of this will help me to continue to grow as a player and I am excited about the chance to do so.”

Colaprico and Huerta have already arrived in Australia and commenced training with Adelaide United.
