Sydney FC captain and defender Danielle Brogan has signed with FA Women's Super League side Notts County for the remainder of the 2014 season.
Brogan becomes the second Australian to sign with the Magpies, their first signing of the transfer window, with Melbourne Victory striker Caitlin Friend enjoying a good start with the third placed side.
This will be the first time the 25 year old has played in England, a fact that she is looking forward to with nerves and anticipation.
“I’m quite nervous, playing in England is something I’ve never done before, but it’s a great opportunity and it is exciting," said Brogan on the Notts County website.
“I’ve been keeping up with the league since it’s started and I’ve been following Notts County’s results. I know Anna (Green) and Caitlin (Friend) so I’ve been following their progress and I’ve heard good things."
The past 24 months have been up and down for Brogan, with the central defender's breakthrough in the Matildas in 2012 stifled by a second knee reconstruction. On the comeback trail in Season 6 of the W-League, an ankle injury delayed her return until the latter part of the season.
Brogan will be hoping to get some regular football with a side currently playing well in the English first division.
"It’s good to be joining a team which have had some good results and I’m impressed with what I’ve seen.”
With the league currently on a break, Brogan will join the Notts County squad next week in preparation for the re-commencement of the season 29 June.
