Pride made the announcement yesterday afternoon (this morning AEDT) that Catley, who has spent the last two seasons with Pride, was exchanged for Reign midfielder Christine Nairn and defender Carson Pickett.

In a separate transaction, Jasmyne Spencer was traded for Reign goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer and Seattle's natural third-round pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft.

During her time with Pride, Catley made 35 appearances, scoring one goal and making three assists. Her goal marked the first goal scored in Pride team history. Last season, Catley was named in the NWSL Second XI and in the Team of the Month for August.

“Steph has played a huge part in shaping our club but knowing that, due to upcoming national team commitments, her desire was to be on the West Coast, we thought this was a good deal for all parties,” Sermanni said.

“We thank Steph for everything over the last two years and wish her the best of luck in Seattle.”

Catley is set to join Melbourne City teammates Jessica Fishlock, Lauren Barnes, Lydia Williams, Larissa Crummer, and Jodie Taylor at Reign.

“Catley is one of the best outside backs in the world and will provide a tremendous boost to our squad,” said Seattle Reign FC head coach Vlatko Andonovski.

“The addition of Spencer will add a new dimension to our attack, complementing what we have in Naho, Rapinoe, Yanez, Crummer and Taylor.”
