Canberra United and Matildas prodigy Karly Roestbakken has dropped down to the Young Matildas for their AFC U/19 Championship. But she's got the captain's armband for her trouble.
Roestbakken has been one of the breakout performers for Australia over the past year, leading to her call-up for the Matildas 2019 World Cup squad.
She's re-signed under Heather Garriock for Canberra United's upcoming season, where she's likely to be the team's star as United seek to rebuild after an eighth-placed finish last campaign.
But the responsibility on Roestbakken's shoulders now extends to the Young Matildas set up, where she and her teammates face a considerable battle to qualify Australia for the U/20 World Cup.
The team have already left for Thailand in preperation for their first match against DPR Korea on Sunday.
