Britt Gibson says knowing the game against GWS Giants was a do or die match, the team rallied around each other to ensure they reached the grand final.
"Craig said to play like you enjoy footy and we really just went out there with some freedom," she said.
"It was do or die for us and we got around as a team.
"We really wanted to be in this position here for Saturday and we just gave it everything," Gibson said.
Compared to 2017, the Lions finished with a 4-3 record this year and while there have been fewer wins this season, the team have chosen to take everything they have learnt into the final.
The team will also take momentum from their 40-point win over GWS and take confidence knowing the side has only lost once away from home since the inaugural season
"I think you harness everything throughout the season, the wins, losses but all those kind of things," Gibson said.
"You ride the bumps along the way in the season."
