Ash Barty has taken to a helipad on the top of the Royal Brisbane hospital for a tennis match as part of an excursion to thank healthcare workers during the COVID19 pandemic.
Barty teamed up with former US Open champion Pat Rafter for a match on top of the hospital against two of the hospital's administrators, in a thank you to the Brisbane healthcare system.
Queensland has confirmed over 1,000 positive COVID19 tests so far and six deaths during the pandemic.
"It was incredible, it was a lot of fun. Great to play up there with (people) who do such great work for our community at the moment.
"It was really incredible to come into one of the COVID wards to see how it works, see how it's all sectioned off.
"There are a lot of people who are unsung heroes, who go unnoticed at the moment. People who are working hard behind the scenes to keep us safe, so it was very special to be able to see that today.
