A place in the 2015 AFC U19 Championships is on the line tonight as Australia meet hosts Vietnam at Youth Football Training Center, Hanoi in their final qualifying match.

Defeats of Hong Kong (6-0) and Singapore (19-0) have placed the Young Matildas nicely on top of Group C, meaning a win or draw will be enough for Ante Juric’s side to qualify for next year’s championships.

Australia enters the contest in red hot form after a record breaking win over Singapore on Match Day 2.  More than the result, Juric was pleased with the professional attitude of his players.

“It was a good score line but more importantly, the way we played the game was extremely pleasing,” he said.

“The word I put on the board at half time was ‘professionalism’ and even though we were 9-0 up, I expected more in the second half and the girls did that.”

“This [Singapore] won’t be the toughest test they will face so we are trying to instil in the team the mentality that every single game, no matter who you play or what the conditions are, you put in the same effort and follow the same processes.”

Next up is hosts Vietnam who also had big wins over their group opponents.

Juric has played two different sides in the opening two matches with a view to having the team fit and prepared for the key challenge.

While he hasn’t fully settled in the starting line up against Vietnam, it should be a combination of players from the first two teams.

“It’s a tough group of girls in terms of selecting,” he said.

“For me they all deserve a position and it has been extremely hard to decide. There will probably be half and half from the two different teams.”

At all levels Vietnam are a well disciplined and structured side. Juric, having faced them recently at U17s level and having the luxury of watching them during the tournament, is under no illusion that the task will be an easy one.

“They are going to be dangerous opposition and we are not taking them lightly, especially as they are at home as well.”

“I believe this Vietnam is a lot more mature and stronger an d a little bit more aggressive.”

“In saying that, if we are at our best, I am sure that we can control the match and do very, very well.”

Australia takes on Vietnam tonight with kick off at 7.30pm (AEST). Match updates will be on TWG’s Facebook and Twitter.
