Here is the Aussies Abroad wrap for 1 - 7 July 2014


United States

Lisa De Vanna's Washington Spirit had a 3-3 draw with the Boston Breakers  in a eventful midweek fixture that saw three penalties and a red card. De Vanna provided a lovely assist for first Spirit goal.

Sam Kerr, Lydia Williams and Teigen Allen had a good week personally and mixed week in terms of team results. The Western New York Flash went down late 2-1 to the Seattle Reign midweek before bouncing back for a 4-1 win on the weekend over the Houston Dash. Kerr added a goal and an assist on Sunday to her season total (6) while Allen got her first start.

Stephanie Catley and Emily Van Egmond's teams faced off on 4th of July ending in a 2-2 stalemate between the Thorns and Red Stars. Catley had a good game in defence while Van Egmond provided an assist for the Red Stars first goal.

Katrina Gorry was a second half sub as her FC Kansas City comprehensively defeated Caitlin Foord's (who started) Sky Blue FC 5-0.

Chloe Logarzo provided an assist for a Tara Andrews goal as the Colorado Pride stayed in contention for the USL W-League finals thanks to a big 6-0 win over the Colorado Storm.


Europe

Two late goals saw Notts County defeat WSL ladder leaders Birmingham City 2-0Danielle Brogan made her debut for the Magpies while Caitlin Friend was also involved in the Continental Cup action.

Eliza Campbell's  Medkila recorded a much needed 4-1 away win against Amazon Grimstad. The 3 points sees them move out of the Toppserien relegation zone.


Asia

Clare Polkinghorne's INAC Kobe suffered a 2-1 home loss to second placed Yunogo Belle.  The loss sees last season's champions Leonessa drift away from ladder leaders Urawa Reds and Yunogo Belle on the Nadeshiko League.

Meanwhile Tameka Butt and Elise Kellond-Knight's Iga FC are further mired in a relegation battle as they suffered their fourth loss on the bounce, going down 2-1 to third placed NTV Beleza.
