USA
Sam Kerr was able to play one match for Sky Blue FC while the Olympics wrapped up. Sky Blue ended up tieing the game in large part to the goal that Kerr scored. Sam Kerr continued her scoring ways this past week when her team took on FC Kansas City. Kerr netted a goal in the 40th minute, however the team was unable to add to Kerr’s goal and ended up losing 2-1.

Kerr continued her goalscoring form mid-week with another strong performance against Orlando Pride with the winger netting the equalizer in a 1-1 draw.

The Western New York Flash were happy to have Alanna Kennedy back in their lineup this past week after her time with the Matildas. The Flash were even able to tie the current NWSL league leaders, the Washington Spirit, with a score of 1-1.

The Flash took on the Boston Breakers in the following game with Kennedy facing off against Matildas and Sydney FC teammate Kyah Simon. The striker got the upper hand in that battle scoring the opening goal in a 2-2 tie.

While the Olympians were away for two games, Ellie Brush was a key piece for the Houston Dash. She played in both games with each ending in a tie.

Lisa De Vanna, the Matildas’ captain, has officially signed with the Orlando Pride and made her debut with Pride gaining a 1-1 draw with Sky Blue FC but the result saw both teams knocked out the finals.

This past week Kyah Simon and the Boston Breakers took on Hayley Raso and the Portland Thorns. Raso’s side came out of the game victorious, winning 5-1. During the Olympics, Hayley Raso was a key player for the Thorns who lost the most amount of players to international commitments. Even with the player losses the Thorns were able to earn four points with a win and a tie, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The Thorns currently sit in second place of the NWSL standings.
Against the Breakers Raso was looking to create an offensive opportunity when her pass was deflected by a defender’s hand and the Thorns were awarded a penalty which was ultimately converted.

Europe
Jenna McCormick and Stjarnan did not miss a beat while the Olympics were taking place. The team went 3-0 and McCormick played in all three of the games. Their winning streak did come to a halt two weeks ago when they lost 2-1 KF Valur, in which McCormick played a full match for the team. They surged back this week with a 3-1 win against IA to have Stjarnan currently sitting atop the table with only three games remaining.

Notts County and Aivi Luik were only able to manage one point over the Olympic break while playing four games. This past week Notts County took on the second place team in Chelsea FC and were unable to earn a point, but only lost 2-1. Luik played a full match for Notts who are now in sixth place in the FAWSL.

Tameka Butt rejoined Mallbackens IF after her time with the Matildas in Rio. The team was unsuccessful in her first game back as they lost 1-0. This past week also saw the team coming away with no points as they suffered a 4-0 loss to Goteborg. Butt was able to play a full match for Mallbackens who now sit in second to last place in the Damallsvenskan League.
Another Matildas' player has joined Tameka Butt in Sweden, Chloe Logarzo, who signed with Eskilstuna in June. Logarzo made her debut for the team this past week and was able to get a starting nod. Eskilstuna was able to come away with a victory over Kristianstad winning 1-0.

Mid week they were back in action with a 1-1 draw against Kvarnsvedens IK
Asia
Amy Jackson and Racheal Quigley’s sides battled one another in the WK League two weeks ago. Quigley was able to play a full match for Hwacheon who came out victorious over the Incheon Red Angels winning 4-1. Jackson was an unused sub for Incheon during the game.
During the Olympics, Hwacheon was able to play one game and win the game with the help of Racheal Quigley who scored in the game. This week Quigley was a part of all of Hwacheon’s scoring against the Seoul Amazones. Racheal Quigley provided a goal and an assist in the team’s 2-0 victory. Hwacheon now sits in fourth place.
While the Olympics were taking place Gema Simon and Suwon FC played in one game and ended up coming away from the game with a tie. This week Simon, who played a full match, and Suwon FC were unable to earn any points and lost to Icheon Daekyo 3-2.
