The week's action saw double delight in Germany, a scoring spree continue in Norway and an award win in the USA.

United States

The tough run for the start of the season continued for Lydia Williams and the Houston Dash as they fell to their fourth straight defeat at the hands of Seattle Reign.  Williams played the full 90 minutes but was unable to stop the Dash falling 2-0 and ultimately coach Randy Waldrum parting from the club.  

Things started a little more positively for Alanna Kennedy and Steph Catley's Orlando Pride as they took on Sam Kerr's Sky Blue FC.

The Pride were on song early at took the lead in the 18th minute thanks to Jasmyne Spencer.  The joy lasted until the final minutes of the first half where Daphne Corboz lined up her Sky Blue teammate Kerr with the forward shooting sweetly to level the scores.

The second half saw a see-sawing affair with Kerr again in the action late as she flicked on a header to the run of Maya Hayes with the American finishing for a 2-1 Sky Blue victory.  The win sees the Jersey side sitting 3rd on the NWSL table.

It was the end of a strong month for Sam Kerr who finished may with 2 goals, 2 assists and 1 penalty won.  For her efforts, she became the first Australian to be voted the NWSL Media Player of the Month.

Meanwhile in Portland Hayley Raso continued to cement her spot in the Portland Thorns starting XI with another solid performance.  The winger continued to be involved in the action as the Thorns two first half goals were enough to get the better of the Boston Breakers 2-0.

Europe

A dream first season with Wolfsburg continued for Emily van Egmond as the German champions added the German Cup to their trophy cabinet after 2-1 win over SC Sand.

In Norway the hot streak continued for Emily Gielnik as the foward again played 90 minutes and scored in her fifth consecutive match.  Gielnik's 69th minute goal helped Avaldsnes keep their undefeated status at the top of the Norwegian league. Gema Simon started and saw 53 mins of action while Chloe Logarzo was an unused substitute.

Tameka Butt wasn't on the score sheet but her 75 minutes of play was key to Klepp's 2-0 win over Kolbotn to keep them in the top 5 an in touch with the Toppserien leaders.

Aivi Luik  and Teigen Allen's Vålerenga had the week off.

Asia

Vegalta Sendai are ruing an opportunity to close the gap on Nadeshiko League leaders.   Katrina Gorry and Caitlin Foord both started in their 1-1 draw with AC Nagano Parseiro.

Foord played the full 90 minutes while  Gorry was substituted in the 85th minute.

Vegalta Sendai are currently on 18 points in equal third.

Hwacheon KSPO and Rachael Quigley  are back in the winner's circle after a 2-1 away win against  Icheon Daekyo.  The victory moves them into equal 3rd just goal difference away from the finals.
