When the Houston Dash hosted the Portland Thorns, it was the only game to feature Aussies in the NWSL this past week. Hayley Raso and the first place Thorns were hoping to avoid a two game skid and walk away with three points.
However, the Dash were looking to make a statement of their own and were able to not only score three goals against the Thorns, but also keep a shutout with help from Ellie Brush’s defensive presence.

Even Houston Dash goalkeeper, Lydia Williams, was excited to hear the news of the Dash winning while she is training for Rio.

Teams that were separated by only five point before the game proved to be equal opponents for each other. Notts County Ladies and the Liverpool Ladies had a scoreless game heading late into the game. Notts were looking for the go ahead goal when they subbed in Aivi Luik in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, neither team was able to produce a goal and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Another week in the WK-League placed Aussies against each other on the pitch. Amy Jackson’s Incheon HS Red Angels faced off against Gema Simon’s Suwon FMC. Not only was Simon in the starting lineup and notched a full 90 minutes for Suwon, but she scored the team’s lone goal. However, her efforts were not enough as the team fell to Incheon 2-1. Jackson was an unused sub in the game.
Racheal Quigley and the Hwacheon KSPO played against the Icheon Daekyo. The game was an even match, but Icheon was able to score a goal and secure the win.
