All four WNBA teams featuring Australians are currently in the playoff spots, with Phoenix and Seattle both enjoying top four spots after picking up victories this week.
Once again, Liz Cambage was the best performed of the Australians, dropping 20 points yet again as Dallas picked up a win in their only game of the week.
The week tipped off with Steph Talbot, Leilani Mitchell, and the Phoenix Mercury taking on Bec Allen and the New York Liberty, with the visiting Mercury storming home from 74-73 down with three minutes to play, scoring the last seven points of the game to take an 80-74 victory.
Mitchell was by far the best performed of the Australian trio, knocking down a pair of threes to tally 8 points and 2 assists in 15 minutes.
Talbot finished scoreless in just three minutes of action off the bench, whilst Allen also failed to register a point but collected 3 rebounds in 6 minutes of playing time for New York.
The Liberty faced the Connecticut Sun a couple of days later, suffering a second heartbreaking loss in as many games after the Sun’s Shekinna Stricklen nailed a buzzer-beating three whilst being fouled to deliver her team an 88-86 victory.
Allen again saw limited playing time off the bench, picking up 3 rebounds, an assist, and a block but once again finishing scoreless in her 5 minutes of action.
The Liberty did pick up their only win of the week in a 78-75 thriller over Indiana Fever, but Allen did not feature in New York’s third victory of the season.
Phoenix, on the other hand, hosted Chicago in their second game of the week, dominating the Sky for the majority of the contest in a 96-79 victory.
All five starters finished in double figures for the Mercury, whilst Talbot was perfect from the field in her 11 minutes, knocking down a pair of threes on her way to 8 points.
Mitchell played more of a facilitator’s role, dishing out 3 assists alongside her 2 points in 17 minutes on court off the bench.
A far lower-scoring game ensued in the Mercury’s final contest of the past week when they hosted Las Vegas.
However, despite scoring just 9 points in the third quarter, the Mercury were able to eke out a 72-66 victory for their fifth win on the troy.
Mitchell saw 14 minutes of playing time, but her only scoring came from a solitary free throw, whilst Talbot managed 2 points and 2 rebounds in 7 minutes of action.

Sami Whitcomb and the Seattle Storm travelled to Los Angeles earlier in the week, and upset the apple-cart with an 88-63 domination of the championship favourite Sparks, shooting 51% from the field compared to Los Angeles’ 37% clip and winning the rebounding contest 36-26.
Whitcomb played 9 minutes off the bench, connecting on one of her two field goal attempts for two points.
However, the Storm’s joy was shortlived as a stifling defensive performance from the Atlanta Dream delivered the Seattle side a 67-64 defeat, despite a 21-13 final quarter that almost brought the Storm back from what was at one point a 12 point deficit.
Unfortunately, Whitcomb was afforded just two minutes of playing time, collecting a rebound and dishing out an assist but finishing scoreless.
Finally, Liz Cambage continued her impressive season as the Dallas Wings condemned the Indiana Fever to a seventh consecutive loss to start the season.
The Opals star shot 7 of 14 from the field and connected on 9 of 12 free throw attempts on her way to 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks as the Wings came home with a wet sail, erasing a late four point deficit to secure an 89-83 victory.
Fellow Australian Cayla George was listed as a DNP for personal reasons, but will hopefully be back for the Wings’ next game against Phoenix.
