Sykes scored twice in November and was a critical part of the defending champions rise from 8th position into second spot.
“As a player it is always great to have your performances recognised and it means even more when it is by your fellow players,“ said Sykes.
“My fellow nominees Kim and Larissa have both had fantastic seasons so far and it was a great feeling to be nominated alongside them, to win it is even better.”
After a slow start to the season, the flying winger has returned to her late Season 7 form which culminated in a Player of the Match Grand Final performance.
It is no coincidence that wingers return has seen Canberra win four in a row and look set to secure another finals berth.
"Everyone at the club has been working extremely hard this season and I would like to thank all of my teammates for their support.”
PFA Executive Member and Canberra United teammate Lydia Williams was pleased for the deserving Sykes.
“Ash has shown everyone what a fantastic player she is and has consistently been amongst the best in the competition,” said Williams.
“The start of the season has shown what great players we have playing in the W-League and having players like Ash plying their trade here will ensure the standard continues to rise.”
The PFA Player of the Month nominees are provided by a panel of women's football writers and commentators with the W-League players voting on the final four nominees.
