Former Socceroo Ante Juric looks set to be appointed Hesterine de Reus's assistant coach at the Matildas.

A former defender, Juric's played for a Sydney Olympic for the majority of his career that also included a short stint at Portuguese giants Benfica.  He takes over the position left vacant by the axing of current Young Matildas coach Spencer Prior.

Since retiring from football in 2009, the 39 year old has embarked on a coaching career and is no stranger to the women's game.  As an assistant coach at Sydney FC's W-League Juri? was present for their inaugural season in 2008 as well as their first Championship in 2009.

Although not formerly announced, Juric, who played four times for the Socceroos and scored one goal, has been a constant face around the Australian camp for the last couple of weeks and was alongside de Reus in the Matildas first internationals against New Zealand.

Last night Juric departed with the Matildas for two week tour of Europe where they will take on World No. 14 the Netherlands and World No. 5 France.
