Former FFA Technical Director Ante Juric has been appointed the new coach for Sydney FC for the upcoming 201/18 W-League season.

Juric becomes the third coach for the Sky Blues after Dan Barrett stepped down last month following two and half seasons in charge.

“It’s a privilege to be coaching at a big club like Sydney FC with a fantastic history in both the men’s and women’s competitions,” said Juric.

“I want to build on what has already been achieved here and continue the Sky Blue legacy of success in the W-League.”

Juric is no stranger to Sydney FC and many of its players with the former Socceroo serving as Alen Stajcic's assistant during the 2008/00 and 2009 W-League season.

The 43 year old went on to serve as Matildas Assistant Coach in 2013/14 and also as head coach of the Young Matildas (U20) and Junior Matildas (U17), subsequently crossing pather with a host of the Sydney FC players.

“I know a lot of the girls already and we have some excellent young internationals and I am hoping to add some experience into the group,” he continued.

“My main goal is to win the Championship and also to secure the Premiership.  Nothing less is acceptable by the standards expected by Sydney FC in my opinion.”

Outgoing Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata believes Juric is person to guide the two time W-League Premiership and Championship winners in the next phase of their history.

“I am pleased to be able to welcome Ante into the Sydney FC family once again,” he said. “Ante has a huge amount of experience in the women’s game in this country and will undoubtedly be an asset to Sydney FC.”

“He has good relationships with many of our existing squad and we look forward to him bringing the best out of the team.”

The W-League will commence its 10th season in late 2017.
