Former Adelaide United captain Ross Aloisi has been named the new coach of the Adelaide United W-League side.

A famous name in footballing circles Aloisi takes over the position after the departure of current Melbourne Victory coach David Edmondson at the end of the 2012/13 W-League season.

''I've got no doubt that the task ahead is very difficult but it's also going to help me evolve as a coach,'' Aloisi said in an interview with The Advertiser.

''There's a lot of things that I'll need to learn, especially player management."

Locally born and raised, Aloisi, who played for Adelaide 76 times, becomes the third coach in the Lady Reds' history and will take on the task of developing the young squad in Season 6.
