Interim Matildas coach Alen Stajcic has called  28 players into his first camp on the Gold Coast.

The camp is the first since former coach Hesterine de Reus was dismissed by Football Federation Australia.

With only a fortnight left to name the final 23 player squad for the 2014 Asian Cup in Vietnam, Stajcic has called in the bulk of de Reus' squad to take them through their paces for the first time.  The camp has seen the recall of Sydney FC duo Chloe Logarzo, Teresa Polias and Canberra United striker Ashleigh Sykes.

"It is very exciting to have the opportunity to work with this group, a true honour," Stajcic said.

"A couple of sessions already and the girls are looking sharp and focussed."

"There is still plenty of work to be done before the final squad is selected and we head to Vietnam for the AFC Women's Asian Cup."

Following this camp, Stajcic will have one further chance to look over the squad in early May, including a match with a South Korean Boys youth team.

This camp concludes on Friday.
