Every conceivable indicator between the United States and Australia points to a comfortable win by the world no. 2 Americans on June 8 at Winnipeg Stadium.

The USA have reached at the least the semi final stage of every World Cup, the average number of caps for this side is 102 with 10 players with over 100 caps and 3 players with over 200 caps and the average age of the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup runners up is 29.37.

By comparison Australia are yet to win a knock out stage match, have a cap average of 29.83 with no player yet to hit the century mark and an average age of 24.55.

In many ways Perth Glory's Alanna Kennedy is the the face of Australia's youth and inexperience but she is also a symbol of their versatility, mobility and a new found confidence.

The 20 year-old is one of 10 World Cup debutantes in the Matildas squad, with the cumulative caps just surpassing that 100 mark.

Kennedy's rise to the national team has been a steady and consistent one with the Sydneysider making the progression through the youth representative squads and onto the national team in 2012.

Having played under Alen Stajcic at Sydney FC, it is no surprise then that Kennedy has the ability to play either in the midfield or defence.

Despite the versatility, it is really at centre back where Kennedy has began to make her name with her 2014 season with the Glory her best yet.

For the defender, Canada 2015 is a dream realised and it has been made more real by finally arriving in Vancouver ten days ago.

"Being over here in Canada, [we are] starting to feel the vibes of the World Cup and more people arriving," said Kennedy."

"It has been great to be over here and get a few more games under our belt with New Zealand and China so hopefully we will be ready to go."

"Once we head to Winnipeg we will be in the atmosphere and we are really looking forward to June 8."

Winnipeg will the epicentre of Group D with two significant double headers to be played. With an anticipated sell-out, it will be an atmosphere the likes of which very few of the players would have experienced before.

"It is obviously quite overwhelming but I think I am ready," said Kennedy of her preparedness for the vocal crowd.

"Of course the crowds can be a little bit distracting but I think we are all well prepared."

"The focus is going to be on the game and I think once we walk on that field, we are all going to be ready to go and the crowed is just going to be an added bonus."

"It is just going to be adding to the adrenaline and hopefully we have lots of Aussie supporters there and we can get the win."

The time in Canada has seen Australia meet the local media and public while managing two modified rules closed door friends with China and New Zealand which they drew.

While not ideal results but Kennedy believes on an individual and team level, the team will be ready, on and off the pitch, come June 8.

"It's the biggest footballing event there is.  I am just excited to be a part of the team and can't wait to be a part of the World Cup."
