Best. Season. Ever.  Seems like we say that every year but Season Five was truly the yet.

Top class internationals lit up the competition alongside the best in the country improving the overall quality of the competition.

The introduction of the Western Sydney Wanderers produced the W-League’s first real cross-city derby with all the colour and pride that went along with it.

At the top it was as tight as it has every been with the final four decided on the last afternoon of the competition with history made with Perth Glory becoming finals débutantes and defending champions Canberra United crashing out. We some first class goals, several matches with pulsating finishes and a finals series to match.

Increased media coverage saw the W-League hit the public consciousness culminating in the first ever back page in the Sydney Morning Herald. Sydney FC got the title but, as they say, women's football was the real winner.
