A decade after her debut and first goal for Australia, Kate Gill surpassed Matildas great Cheryl Salisbury as the nation's all time leading goalscorer.

Fittingly the achievement happened with Gill captaining the Matildas at the Asian Cup with the striker finally getting past the Jordanian defence to give Australia the lead.

She went on to score again in the match to give Australia a crucial 3 points on their way to qualifying for the 2015 Women's World Cup.

In fact Gill has scored some crucial goals for the Matildas in her career including one in the 2010 Asian Cup semi final against Japan. Her volley saw Australia defeat the eventual World Champions 1-0 and qualify for Germany 2011.

The 2010 AFC Women's Player of the Year, Gill (40) stands atop the leader board for goals for Australia with Salibury (38) in second, Tim Cahill (36) in third, fourth Sarah Walsh (32) and Lisa De Vanna (31) round out the Top 5.

After a Golden Boot performance for Perth Glory in Season 7 of the W-League, Gill is in great form going into a big 2015.
