EAGLES’ ENCOUNTER WITH EXPERIENCE

In the first ever AFLW derby, the West Coast Eagles succumbed to pressure exerted by the more experienced Dockers. From the outset, the chemistry between the Freo players was evident, resulting in a level of organisation that the Eagles struggled to counter.

The Dockers’ superior experience showed throughout the game, and as they set the pace early on, it became clear that the game would be played on their terms.

West Coast seemed to be stuck playing a game of reactive football, consistently falling a few steps behind their rivals.

The disappointed home-team supporters will need to hope that the Eagles will learn from this early run-in with such a strong opposing team; to take the opportunity to identify their weaknesses and see how they can improve over the next few weeks.
