FREMANTLE MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR OPPORTUNITIES

At the start of the third quarter, from four inside 50’s, the dockers were able to score 3 goals. This was despite the first half of the game being spent in Collingwood’s forward 50.

Every time the ball ended up at the Dockers’ attacking end, they were able to convert onto the score board.

There was also almost a difference of 100 possessions going Collingwood’s way, but Fremantle were able to capitalise well on their opportunities, which in the end gave them the four points.

BOTH TEAMS PROVIDE AMPLE SCORERS

Goals from both sides didn’t come from one source. Given the right opportunity, the likes of Jamie Lambert, Ebony Antonio and Gemma Houghton just to name a few, were able to convert onto the scoreboard for their team.

This dispersal of players being able to convert made an already high stakes game even more unpredictable and exciting.

FREMANTLE REMAINED COMPOSED IN DEFENCE

Even in the second quarter where the momentum was going Collingwood’s way, the Fremantle defenders were able to stay composed and not let the magpies have too big of a lead going into the half time break.

This made it easier for the Dockers to convert and hit the lead in the second half.

Most of the last two minutes of the game was spent in Collingwood’s forward half but the Fremantle defenders were too good in applying the pressure and not letting Collingwood score what would have been the match winner.
