It was the first game of the Bushfire Relief double header and for fans that were there it certainly didn’t disappoint. Melbourne proved that they were too strong for Collingwood, coming home with the four points.
Daisy Pearce hasn’t missed a beat
The Dees' captain hasn’t missed a beat since she came back from giving birth to twins.
12 disposals and 5 marks in her new-found role in half back, she was essential in stopping Collingwood’s forwards and leading by example for the rest of the back line, who were all outstanding in shutting down Collingwood's forward line.

Collingwood just couldn’t convert on the score board
The Pies’ performance tonight was great, but they just weren’t able to convert it onto the scoreboard.
They had a clean transition out of their defensive half and a great midfield performance that unfortunately wasn’t reflected by the score.
It didn’t help that the Pies’ cross-coding star Ash Brazill went down with a serious knee injury late in the 3rd quarter.
"We'll try and get [scans] done as quickly as we can, so we suspect that'll be tonight or tomorrow, but our medical are working through that."

Steve Symonds comments on Ash Brazill's knee injury.
Melbourne Capitalised on their chances
The Dees were able to capitalise on the chances they were given in their forward 50 and convert it on the scoreboard, which is what won them the game.
Daisy Pearce played an integral role in the Demons’ ability to transition the footy cleanly out of their backline, as did the forwards who were often in the right place at the right time to take the mark inside 50 and convert.
