The Boston Breakers last week embarked on a two game road trip that saw the East Coast team retain their top of the table status despite posting their first loss of the WPSL Elite season.
The Breakers' strike duo of Katie Schoepfer and Kyah Simon continued their red hot form as a brace from the former and another goal from the latter led Boston to a 4 – 0 win over FC Indiana. Boston finally breached a stubborn Indiana defence in the 30th minute with Bianca D’Agostino netting her first goal as a Breaker. Schoepfer then fired her brace in under 10 minutes with Simon involved in the second. In the 78th minute, the Sydney FC striker rounded out the scoring for her third of the season.

Tameka Butt returned from an ankle sprain for the match against the other undefeated WPSL Elite side, the Chicago Red Stars. In an exciting back-and-forth match, the home side grabbed all three points through a 34th minute Michele Weissenhofer goal. After a sluggish first half, the Breakers came out strong in the second with both Butt and Kyah Simon creating plenty of chances for the visitors. In the end Boston posted their first loss despite their best efforts.

This weekend the Breakers were back on the road to take on the Philadelphia Fever with a 44rd minute Kyah Simon goal enough to give the Breakers all three points. Simon and Tameka Butt were both busy in front of goal early with Butt heading wide and Simon heading high in the opening 15 minutes. Bianca D'Agostino, Butt and Simon all had several attempts to get past Michele Dalton in the Fever goal but were unable to do so until a Simon 25 yard rock just before half time.
The second half was much of the same with Simon, Butt, Courtney Jones, Cat Whitehill and Katie Schoepfer peppering the Fever goals but this time Dalton pulled some excellent saves to keep the damage to one.
Emily Van Egmond's Western New York Flash grabbed 4 points from a 6 with a 0 – 0 draw with neighbours New York Fury followed up by a 3 – 1 win over New England Mutiny. The Newcastle Jets midfielder also netted her first WPSL Elite goal with a 76th minute goal against the Mutiny.
In a physical encounter the Flash and Fury negated each other in their WPSL Elite clash. Excellent defending and goalkeeping was the story of the night has both sides came away with a point.

Western New York were more comfortable in their clash with New England producing several chances early. The deadlock was eventually broken in the 24th minute with a classy goal from Katy Frierson. From then on it was all Flash with captain McCall Zerboni scoring less than 10 minutes later before Van Egmond ensured they had all three points with a 76th minute header. That wasn't the end of the goals with Kate Howarth managing a consolation goal for the Mutiny in the 82nd minute.

It's been a busy two weeks for Brooke Spence; one which saw the Brisbane Roar defender handed the captain's armband for the Colorado Rapids as well as matches across the Western seaboard. They kicked it off with a 1 – 0 win (thanks to Lynnsey Janes' 81st minute goal) over the Victoria Highlanders before meeting their conference leaders the Seattle Sounders.
The Rapids were blitzed early by a side that contains US Women's National Team players Alex Morgan and Hope Solo and it was the former that kicked off the scoring in the 3rd minute before turning provider in the 8th minute. The Rapids managed to regroup and put in a better performance for the rest of the match before Stephanie Cox sealed the three points for the Sounders.
The Rapids completed a hectic schedule (4 games in 10 days) with a 2 – 1 loss to Conference leaders the Pali Blues.

Brisbane Roar's Amy Chapman and Canberra United's Caitlin Munoz have joined USL W-League outfit the LA Strikers. Chapman and Munoz played their first match for the Strikers against the Victoria Highlanders with the LA side notching up their first win of the season 3 – 0.
Sam Johnson kicked off the scoring in the 23rd minute with her third goal of the season. Despite controlling possession LA weren't able to kill off the contest until the 71st minute with Strikers’ captain Vanessa Valentine netting off a Munoz corner. Zakiya Bywaters converted a penalty late to give LA an emphatic win and hopefully the kick start to their season.
In speaking to Debby Von Winckelmann Sam Johnson mentioned the immediate impact Munoz and Chapman have had on the LA squad, especially the latter.
“She’s actually like a huge, huge deal,” Johnson said. “She gives us all a boost of confidence and she makes everyone look better on the field. She sets the tone. When you see her, you want to work hard just like she does.”

Meanwhile the Pali Blues have shifted their season into overdrive with the last two weeks producing 5 wins to go to 7-0 in the USL W-League Western Conference.
Sydney FC's Servet Uzunlar and Kahlia Hogg have both started for the Blues and been large contributors to their perfect start. So much so that Uzunlar's performance in the Blues' midfield saw her gain her second W-League "Team of the Week" nomination.
In that time period, Pali has swept all before them including in matches against Brooke Spence's Colorado Rapids and Amy Chapman and Caitlin Munoz's LA Strikers (although neither played in that match).
