Round 5 of the W-League is highlighted by an unlikely Top of the Table clash as the league's two undefeated teams Melbourne City and Adelaide United clash.

For the other six teams, this round is their chance to make their move for Top Four positions.

Newcastle Jets v Canberra United

Saturday 14 November 2015 | Magic Park, Broadmeadow, Newcastle | Local kick-off: 2pm

Both the Newcastle Jets and Canberra United enter the match on the back of losses last round.

Despite being dominant early, the Jets conceded late in additional time to go down to the Wanderers 2-1. Meanwhile for Canberra they were the latest, but arguably the closest, victim of Melbourne City with a 4-2 loss.

What to watch for: Last week the Jets lack of finishing early, came back to haunt them late.  While the midfield fired and the Jets created chance after chance, they were unable to capitalise on it.  Canberra will need to watch the pace of the Newcastle's front three and and midfield.

It was pace that was the undoing of the defending champions last week but with this match set to be played at a slightly lower intensity than the Melbourne City clash, this is also an opportunity for Canberra's more experienced midfield to assert their presence.

Newcastle will be looking to stretch the pitch and make the most their pace on the wings while Canberra will want a more compact match to command the centre of the pitch.

Player Watch: Rhali Dobson has created havoc against Melbourne Victory and the Western Sydney Wanderers early in the match. When released, the pacy winger was able to get to the touch line and play in her fellow strikers with excellent delivery.

The top of the table clash matches up the two big stories of Season 8 with both Melbourne City and Adelaide United making unbeaten starts to the season.

Melbourne City continued their winning ways with a comfortable 4-2 win over Canberra United, despite being down to 10 players for the last 30 minutes of the match.

Back in City's home state, Adelaide United slowly dismantling City's rival Melbourne Victory with Rosie Sutton leading the Reds to a 4-0 win.

What to watch for: From the first whistle this match was played at City's pace.  As they have all season, the ladder leaders ambushed Canberra with pace and pressure grabbing a stranglehold on the match and never really letting go.

The midfield trio of Jess Fishlock, Kim Little and Aivi Luik is a formidable one and the engine room that will drive this City machine.  The task of stifling their influence will be Adelaide's own driving force of Lauren Steer, Sarah Killion and Emily Condon.

Both midfields are more than just links between the defence and attack, they are also full of goals with both City and United gaining 3 goals from their trios.  With the top two scoring attacks, this midfield battle could settle today's encounter.

Player Watch: Forward Marianna Tabain was named the PFA October Player of the Month after a strong start to the season.  The 22-year-old moved from Perth Glory after 7 seasons with her hometown club and has quickly settled at the star-studded City.  In the absence of Lisa De Vanna, a creativity on the wings will be key for City as they look to continue to use their width effectively.
