The perfect season from Canberra | TWG

When Jitka Klimkova was appointed in September of 2011, that that was said could have prepared us for the impact the Czech coach would have on the W-League.
With her methodical and calm approach, Klimkova set about subtly overhauling Canberra United. Not that they were underachievers before but the club had been a bridesmaid two many times but not this year.
With a spine including Lydia Williams, Brush and Cooper, Shipard and Heyman supported by the likes of Caitlin Munoz and Taryn Hemmings, United were nigh on untouchable in Season Four. They finished the regular season unbeaten as they clinched the premiership before going on to dominate in both the semi final and grand final to claim their first championship.
As expected they “Green Machine” scooped the W-League awards with the Player of the Year and Julie Dolan Medal awarded to Shipard as well as the Goalkeeper of the Year (Williams), Golden Boot (Heyman) and co Fair Play award winners.
