The match was the second leg of the cross continental CONMBEOL-CONCACAF play off which was evenly poised after the first leg finished 0-0 between the two nations in Quito, Ecuador in early November.
Monica Quinteros was the hero for Ecuador with a stoppage time goal to send the South Americans through to the Canada 2015.

Ecuador's qualification ends the biggest ever FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign with 129 nations participating in over 400 qualifier for the coveted 23 positions.
Thanks to an increase in spots from 16 to 24, the Women's World Cup sees 6 debutantes in Cameroon, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
With qualification complete, the stage is set for the World Cup draw which takes place on 6 December 2014 (4:00am (AEDT), 7 December 2014) in Ottawa
