“The Clubbies Awards are important to us because we understand and recognise the importance of clubs in making sport available to all Australians. Most of our people have been, or are, members of clubs. Sponsoring the awards enables us to acknowledge that, without clubs, we couldn’t play our sport. It also enables us to say ‘thank you’ to all the hard-working Australians who contribute to this country’s great network of sports clubs.

“As well as thanking you for providing us the opportunity and privilege of insuring your club, as chief executive of Sportscover, I extend a personal invitation for you to contact me at any time if you ever have an issue with the service and cover we provide.

“Best of luck to all who enter the 2019 Sportscover Clubbies Awards!”

The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) was established in 1976 to advance the interests of the Australian sports community and to give the industry a united voice in discussions and negotiations with governments and key stakeholders.

Their aim is to contribute to the development of a society in which the social, economic and health benefits of widespread participation in sport and recreation are recognised and valued.

“Through the promotion of participation in sport and physical activity, CAS aims to improve the health and well-being of individual Australians, and to maximise the sport and leisure industry’s contribution to the Australian economy,” says CAS chief executive Rob Bradley.

In a recent study, CAS reported that sport’s value in dollar terms to the nation was “dramatically underestimated” – an economic contribution of $22 billion every year, which was 17 times the combined federal and state government funding of $1.3 billion. It further stated that the nation’s sport system had a critical role to play in meeting the challenge of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and mental illness.

The Heart Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fighting the single biggest killer of Australians – heart disease. Tragically 48 Australians lives are lost every day to coronary heart disease.

For 60 years, the Heart Foundation has led the battle to save lives and improve the heart health of all Australians. Its sights are set on a world where people don’t suffer or die prematurely because of heart disease.

Every day, its work includes:

  • Funding world-class cardiovascular research
  • Guiding health professionals on preventing and treating heart disease
  • Educating Australians about making healthy choices
  • Supporting people living with heart conditions
  • Advocating to government and industry to improve heart health in Australia.

Since its inception the Heart Foundation has funded over half a billion dollars (in today’s dollars) into world class heart related research and supported thousands of Australian researchers.

The Foundation’s General Manager of Heart Health Bill Stavreski said: “Being active is one of the most important ways that Australians of all ages and abilities can improve their health and wellbeing. But more than half of all Australian adults are not active enough for good health.

"The Heart Foundation wants to encourage Aussies to move more and sit less – so whether it’s a brisk 30 minute walk every day or participating in local sporting activities, the more active people become, the more their heart will benefit.”

Rugby League is one of Australia’s most entertaining and popular sports with a rich history dating back to its creation in 1908. The NRL Telstra Premiership is the elite sporting competition and the Holden State of Origin series between New South Wales and Queensland is arguably Australia’s greatest sporting rivalry.

At its heart, Rugby League is a community-based sport played by hundreds of thousands right across Australia, especially in country areas. In addition, there are countless people who give their time volunteering to ensure boys and girls, teenagers and adults can play the sport they love each weekend. A new initiative, League Stars, is helping to attract thousands of new youngsters to the game.

Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

The National Sports Convention 2020 is Australia and New Zealand’s leading gathering of leaders, policy makers and providers in the physical activity, play, fitness, recreation, government, health, education and community sports sectors.

Developed with Sport Australia, Sport New Zealand, and more than 40 stakeholders, this year's integrated conferences will focus on the challenge of how to encourage more people to be physically active, and then explore how we can encourage them to participate more frequently in play and recreation and then identify how to best provide opportunities to participate in community sport.

Focusing on providing delegates with an understanding of global practices, policy and strategy guidance together with case studies from across Asia-pacific, the convention encourages delegates to take back learnings and tools to their workplace. The event is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates from across Australia.
