The Premiership winner discovered she had a disc replacement after feeling sudden pain while on her couch on Sunday night.

The pain continued until Monday morning and her physio referred her onto a surgeon.

"I met with a specialist in regards to some neck pain I was having, turns out I had ruptured and slipped a disc in my neck (biggest one the surgeon had seen)," Ward wrote on social media.

"I saw him in the morning and he put me in for urgent surgery yesterday afternoon as the rupture was putting immense pressure on my nerves and spinal cord."

Speaking to NRL.com, Ward said that she saw the surgeon at 8am and by 4pm she was going under the knife.

Now recovering, she is already looking forward to the next NRL Women's Premiership.

"I had a disc replacement and am on the mend, looking forward to 2019!"

Yesterday morning I met with a specialist in regards to some neck pain I was having, turns out I had ruptured and slipped a disc in my neck (biggest one the surgeon had seen). I saw him in the morning and he put me in for urgent surgery yesterday afternoon as the rupture was putting immense pressure on my nerves and spinal cord. Dr Hall was amazing got me into surgery ASAP and kept me totally informed the whole way before and after op as did all the awesome support staff at Greenslopes. I had a disc replacement and am on the mend, looking forward to 2019! Thank you for all the kind messages, was a scary time but I am doing well. So grateful to have my amazing mum and partner by my side the whole day 🙌
