The W-League is gearing up for the fourth round of the season. This week is no slouch for matchups and could be the most evenly contested games yet.
Game 1
Canberra United vs Brisbane Roar
The first game of round 4 features Canberra taking on Brisbane. Two teams who find themselves in the middle of the pack, but with very different stories to this season. They have almost opposite goals for vs goals against, Canberra has scored six and given up four while Brisbane has scored three and given up six.
It's all coming up Sydney in the Westfield #WLeague ladder.

Canberra has had the easier schedule having their two wins over two of the bottom teams in Newcastle and Perth. Brisbane has had tougher opponents having been beaten by Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney.
Even with Canberra’s easier schedule their wins have to give them momentum and give them the advantage in this matchup.
Game 2
Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Melbourne Victory return to W-League play after taking the week off to play three games in the AFC Women's Club Championship in South Korea. Victory will hope they can move past their disappointing 0-1-2 finish in the tournament. The team’s next opponent will not make it easy for them.
Western Sydney Wanderers are currently 3-0-0 sitting in second place based on goal difference. The Wanderers are averaging two goals a game and have top goal scorer Kristen Hamilton to thank for that.

Melbourne Victory’s first two games in the W-League were underwhelming since they have given up five goals and only scored three. If Victory can earn a tie in this matchup it would be a success and could get them back on path as a top team.
Game 3
Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets
Both Perth and Newcastle are winless this season and sit in the bottom four of the ladder. Newcastle at least tied a match and have kept all of their games close. Whereas Perth has only netted one goal and given up five.
Newcastle is favored to win this game and even earn their first win of the season. Perth look like they are hurting from not playing in the second round.
It’s only the fourth round so it is not panic mode for Perth yet, but they need to start figuring out how to perform better.
Game 4
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City
The battle of the undefeated teams has to be the game of the round and it happens to be the last one fans can see. Sydney v Melbourne City is the matchup between the most recent W-League Champions.
Sydney is rightfully sitting atop the league and look very poised to make a run at the Grand Final. Since tying Newcastle in their opening match Melbourne City has seemed to settle into the season and have won their last two games.
This game will showcase the top rosters with nine Matildas across both teams. Fans will want to circle this game on their calendar and be dialed into one of the top matchups of the season.
