The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, has secured the Pacific Test Invitational for the State in a celebration of international sportsmanship.

This year’s Pacific Test Invitational on Saturday June 22 will feature a clash between the women’s teams from Papua New Guinea and Fiji, and two men’s matches – Fiji versus Lebanon, and Samoa versus Papua New Guinea.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said it was an exciting event for Sydney and rugby league fans from everywhere.

The event will include additional entertainment including precinct activities and pre-game supporter interaction.

“Rugby league has very passionate fans and is widely supported, and Sydney and NSW are home to some of the league’s most iconic events,” Chipchase said.

“Sydney looks forward to welcoming supporters, spectators and communities from around the globe for the Pacific Test Invitational."

NRL Head of Football Graham Annesley said he was looking forward to the festival-like atmosphere taking place at one of the Sydney’s best boutique stadiums.

“The Ox & Palm Pacific Test Invitational is one of the most highly-anticipated and culturally diverse events on the rugby league calendar,” Annesley said.

“To see some of international rugby league’s best male and female Pacific and Lebanese players take to one Sydney’s most cherished suburban grounds in Leichhardt Oval is an event not to be missed.”
